Under District of Columbia law, if you recently purchased a new electronic device made by one of the brands working with MRM you may return a covered electronic device of the same type for recycling through MRM. To see a complete list of brands that fall under this program please click here.

You may wish to remove personal information and data from devices prior to recycling. This includes data on hard drives, cell phones (especially smart phones), USB travel drives, printers, and network equipment such as firewalls, routers, and switches. Some websites to assist you in wiping data include but are not limited to DBAN and Eraser.

Manufacturers providing free recycling by mail for specific electronic devices with MRM can be found on our Participating Manufacturers page.
