State Recycling Information

Manufacturers working with MRM support free electronic recycling for covered electronic devices at drop-off sites across the state. If there is a charge for a specific product, the collection site information will note that there is a charge.

If no collection site is convenient to you, you can mail back your device for no charge. If your product does not meet shipping limits (less than 75 pounds and smaller than 66” by 30”), you can call MRM’s toll-free number for assistance.

Under New York law, if you recently purchased a new electronic device made by one of the brands working with MRM you may return a covered electronic device of the same type for recycling through MRM. To see a complete list of brands that fall under this program please click here.

This includes data on hard drives, cell phones (especially smart phones), USB travel drives, printers, and network equipment such as firewalls, routers, and switches. Some websites to assist you in wiping data include but are not limited to DBAN and Eraser.
